The Magnificent Virgin Mourner Dance in the Weeding Dance

In the story of The Virgin by Kerima Polotan Tuvera, Miss Mijares is a 34 years old woman who lives a dull life and behaves with stiffness and aloofness, camouflaging her tiredness and loneliness with raffled and pastel-colored clothes. She is different among other woman for how she thinks about sexual part of her life. She thinks about it unlikely usual and on the weird context, therefore she of a character that is marginalized, either psychological or physiological.

Miss Mijares is a responsible character that though she had a choice of not doing her responsibilities with her relatives, she still does what she thinks is best. She was able to finished college, send her niece to school and attend to her sick mother. She shows a very good example to all young women. Through her great will of fulfilling her dreams and performing her duties she didn't attend much to her personal life and got stuck up with her dull life. She enveloped herself with loneliness that makes her even marginalized with the rest of the people especially in her workplace.

Unconsciously, some women think about sex more than a man does. Sexual fantasies are very common with the human being male or female. Miss Mijares thinks about her sexual fantasies that may be different to how other thinks about it. She shows a very different side of a woman characteristic that is very unusual especially in the Philippines tradition. We often describe woman as secretive, conservative and soft. We don't associate them with male characteristics, but Miss Mijares shows that it is not only the man who thinks of such fantasies. It is always possible with everyone male or female to think about such because it is a part of our life and that everyone at some point also thinks about weird fantasies.

Estrella Alfon with her Magnificence talks about the love of a mother to her child, the connection between a mother and a daughter. Little girl is physically battered with no strength to fight and innocence with unworldly things around her. A mother is either emotionally or psychologically battered. She is a tall woman with eyes that held pride, a voice that has a heavy quality a bell of safety for the little kid. As a mother, to witness such act of stranger to your child is something that will release your anger and strength at the same time. She shows strength to the scene that reflects a very protective side of a parent, she as a mother shows that a woman can also protect her children thru hard times.

Lumnay in the Wedding Dance described as a best dancer of the village, she has the most lightness and grace, she dance like a bird, has a supple body and is a good wife. Having all these beautiful traits of a woman she cannot give birth to a child, therefore had no choice but to let go of her husband and remarry another women which degrades her femininity. With no choices to make she is battered emotionally. She was not given the right to express her feelings concerning the wedding of her husband with another woman.

As of the holiness of the wedding is concern, she believes in the context of being loyal and contented with your partner. What else could she be lacking of when she does all her duties a wife? She makes her husband happy as she should be, do the chores she needed to do to serve her husband the best way that she can. Being a women with a strong mind with strength that other woman lacks, she is perfectly fit with the role she is being cut of with. She is all of a woman that a man would dream off, only she cannot bear a child, but what if it is the man who lacks the ability?

In the story of Dead Stars by Paz Marquez Benitez on the other hand talks about Julia Salas who is a woman of grace, who knows what she wants and has a charisma that all the man would love and Ezperanza, a well mannered women, efficient, know what she wants, literal minded and intensely acquisitive. She has a grace, a women dressed with self conscious care and often describe as a woman distinctly not average and fortunate enough to have a acceptable appearance. They are both battered emotionally and psychologically.

Julia Salas is a woman of grace who knows what she want, it is a question why after so many years she didn't get married. Showing loyalty. A unique quality of a woman. A quality that more often than not, a man lacks. She is battered emotionally and psychologically that she inflicts pain to herself by choosing to be alone for the rest of her life after experiencing a very traumatic experience from the past. Then we have Ezperanza a believer in the regenerative virtue of institutions. She thinks that if a man is married, why, of course, he loved his wife if he were engaged he could not possibly love another women. She believes in the power of the regenerative virtue of institution too much that it took her 8 years before she actually says something to her husband about what she knows.

Ezperanza and Julia Salas considering their differences, they've shown and respected love. Being love and loving is probably the happiest feeling in the entire universe. They have shown nothing to cross the line hence abuse and disrespected by the person they've love.

The narrator of The Chieftest Mourner is probably the witness of love and disloyalty. Confused with the situation she then doesn't know what exactly she has to do to understand fully what is really happening. She is still a student in all girl school in Manila and probably inexperience with the situation she is witnessing about. She can be possibly battered psychologically by witnessing such acts and would probably be conscious enough to inflict pain to the opposite sex. Having been said, she, along the way is caught between love and disloyalty with the woman they called la mujer Esa a young accomplished woman of means, with elegance and grace. She calls herself the wife of the poet that confuses many people. As a No. 2, she is often discriminated and judge by the poets relatives that makes her marginalized. She is among those women who are acting unethically that are often called bitch. She is the one who take good care of the poet when he is badly ill. She didn't leave the poet in times that he needed her most. She loved him unconditionally and didn't ask for anything in return. Though she was discriminated by the relatives of the poet she never gave up her love for the poet, hence, shows a wonderful affection until the end. Very unlikely to Aunt Sophia who only cares about their relationship but not the person, but the blame is not for her for she is also a victim of disloyalty of the poet. Being battered emotionally and psychologically, she inflicts pain for herself by making untruthful comments for the poets concerning their split up situation. Though after 10 years she never gave up and still hopes for her husband to go back. She still longs for love and like la mujer Esa, she also suffered for the lost of the poet.
